Kemal Pasha swears by Quran, constitution
Justice Pasha called upon everyone to uphold the Constitution.
KOZHIKODE: High Court Judge Justice Kemal Pasha has said that he was bound by the Indian Constitution as well as the Holy Quran. It may be recalled that he had stirred up a hornets’ nest last month by his comment against male polygamy among Muslims.
“I firmly believe in our Constitution as well as in Holy Quran. I will speak only according to the tenets of Indian Constitution,” he said at an award distribution function here on Saturday. Justice Pasha called upon everyone to uphold the Constitution.
“One must have the courage to speak the truth. Otherwise, there is no point in living,” he added. Regarding the controversy created by his earlier comment, he said that it was not good to highlight the negative side of a comment and create a controversy. He hinted that his earlier comment had been misquoted. “Now I am scared to come to Kozhikode,” Justice Kemal Pasha said in a lighter vein.
