SCR Vijayawada Division’s revenue up by 27.3 per cent
Mohan said 3rd line of 37 km along with electrification was commissioned between Talamanchi-Sri Venkateswarapalem-Kavali in 2021-22
VIJAYAWADA: South Central Railway Vijayawada Division has earned 27.3 percent higher revenue during financial year 2021–2022 compared to the previous year.
Announcing this here on Saturday, divisional railway manager (DRM) Shivendra Mohan said gross earnings of Vijayawada Division during 2021–22 have been ₹ 3,178.89 crore, which is 27.3 percent more compared to 2020–21. This has been achieved by way of both goods and passenger earnings.
He stated that the division loaded 21.44 MT of cargo in 2021–22, which is 9.2 percent more than last year. Earnings from goods in 2021–2022 are ₹ 2,317.05 crore, which is 5.45 percent higher compared to 2020–21. The division achieved the highest-ever parcel revenue of ₹ 32 crore during 2021–22, which is 153 percent higher than ₹ 12.62 crore revenue earned in 2020–21. 59 Kisan Rail trains had been loaded in 2021–22, resulting in revenue of ₹ 6.93 crore. Loading of mangoes resumed from Nuzvid during 2021–22 after a long gap of six years.
The DRM said passenger revenue during 2021–22 went up to ₹ 725 crore, which is 229 percent more than 2020–21’s revenue of ₹ 219.84 crore. Total 28.893 million passengers originated from Vijayawada Division against the annual target of 27.616 million passengers
Shivendra Mohan said the third line of 37 km in the division along with electrification has been commissioned between Talamanchi-Sri Venkateswarapalem-Kavali in 2021-22. Thus, the division’s Vijayawada-Gudur section has a continuous 63-km long third line; 17 km in Vijayawada-Uppaluru and 48 km between Narasapur-Bhimavaram-Aravalli sections. Further, a new 1.5 km line has been added during modification of Vijayawada Yard. The New West Block Hut (NWBH) cabin has been shifted and commissioned with 20 routes to provide connectivity.
Regarding passenger amenities, the DRM said that all express trains have been restored and five foot over bridges commissioned during 2021–22 at Vijayawada, Tanuku, Anaparthi, Nuzvid and Pithapuram. One lift has been commissioned at Gudivada and two at Bapatla. The Integrated Passenger Information Systems at Rajahmundry and Kaikalur have been connected to the National Train Enquiry System.
Shivendra Mohan said Vijayawada is the first station in Indian Railways to be equipped with 130 KWP Solar BIPV COP, winning the National Energy Conservation Awards –2021. He pointed out that all staff of Vijayawada division have been vaccinated with both the doses of Coronavirus vaccination. Vijayawada was the first division to achieve this feat within the Indian Railways.
