KOZHIKODE: The Khadi Gramodyog Emporium organised a ‘Cotton-khadi vasthrotsav-2016’ at its emporium building at Kozhikode. The exhibition-cum-sale is to attract buyers who suffer from the scorching heat. Handicraft  sales are usually seen during festival seasons like Onam or Vishu but the summer season has also become a ‘high-demand ‘time for hand-woven products.

Organizers said that they had been receiving enquiries for ethnic products and therefore they had decided to conduct an exhibition especially this time. The fair will have products like minister’s khadi, Dhaka Muslin cotton, Kalamkari which are all time favorites.

“We not only have clothing materials, the fair will also have about 1,000 herbal products like sarsaparilla drink and arrowroot powder. These items have high hydration value’’ said Syam Prasad M.K, Manager of Khadi Gramodyog. “Cotton and khadi are the best outfits for summer days and this time, the temperature is really high .We expect to have a good sale,” he added.

The cotton-Khadi fair will have handmade bedsheets, home accessories, sandals and herbal cosmetic items. But organizers expect that they will get buyers for clothes as summer is getting severe.
