THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has  once again admitted in the Assembly that there were lapses on the part of the police, but blamed it on the hangover of the previous UDF rule. "During the previous years, many things that should not have happened had happened in the police force. Some police officials are acting as if they are still unaware of the change of governance in the state. This hangover is the reason for some lapses on the part of the police these days," he  told the House while replying to the discussions on the demands for grants for police and jail departments.

It may be recalled that Mr. Vijayan had admitted police lapses on a couple of occasions during the previous sitting of the Assembly also. Mr Vijayan said that stern action was being taken against the police lapses. The police were instructed not to behave indecently towards the public.
