Archery, boxing included in CBSE sports calendar
Online system invites proposals for hosting sports events, participants' application.
Thiruvananthapuram: The CBSE inter-school sports competition has included archery and boxing in the sports activity calendar for the first time. An online system has been introduced for inviting proposals for hosting the sports events and for the participants to apply, said Mr Tarun Kumar, regional officer, CBSE Thiruvananthapuram region. Archery and boxing were included because the country has a chance to win medals at the international level in these events, sources said.
Schools that wanted to host any of the competitions at cluster, zonal or national level in any of the disciplines, should apply online by clicking link ‘Sports’ on CBSE websites www.cbseacademic.in and www.cbse.nic.in Offline will not be accepted. The link ‘apply to organise’ should be clicked for filling online form. The username and password will be the same as used by the schools for letter of consent (LOC) submission for class X and XII examination. The schools should ensure all the facilities to organise the sports events, preferably as per specifications of infrastructure available on the website of Sports Authority of India.
Schools which wanted to sponsor their students or teams for participation in CBSE sports events may register their students and teams online by filling the online form at the link and click ‘Register student and then click ‘Apply to participate.’ Participation of winners and runners-up of cluster or zone-level will be as per the following:
Winner & first runner-up: Winner and first runner-up individuals or teams of following events will participate in the CBSE nationals in each category and age-group separately: Athletics (individual events), table-tennis, badminton, judo, skating, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, football-girls, chess (02 top teams), rifle-shooting (top 02 teams & 05 top individuals), boxing and archery. Winners only: In case of team-events of athletics, basketball, football-boys, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball.
