Maha Ganapathi Yuvajana Seva Sangham from MVP Colony will be erecting the 100 foot-plus idol, which it says is the tallest in the city. The organisers will be assembling the statue at the venue. “Though we are yet to announce the exact height of the idol, it would be over 100 foot tall,” sangham president B. Trimurthulu said.
Another group of organisers is erecting over the 78-foot eco-friendly Ganesh idol at Gajuwaka. They have engaged skilled artisans from Kolkata to make the idol.
Following the police restriction on immersion of tall Ganesh idols, the organisers of the tall Ganesh idols pandals said that they will make arrangements for immersion of the idols by dissolving the idols on the spot with the help of the fire brigade.
ADCP (Special Branch) P.V. Ravi Kumar said that so far they has received over 930 applications from the organisers of the Ganesh pandals for obtaining permission from police, fire service, GVMC and EPDCL. “We will receive applications till September 4 and are expecting over 2,000 applications. After verifying the applications, we will grantpermission,” he added.
