Hyderabad Peace Committee Commit to Peace During Ganesh Immersion & Milad-un-Nabi
HYDERABAD: Around 500 peace committee members reaffirmed their commitment to maintain peace by working along with the police, at a meeting called by Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand. The meeting was held against the backdrop of the Ganesh idol immersion and Milad-un-Nabi falling on September 28.
Anand urged the members to engage in constructive dialogues with locals, identity issues pertaining to disputed sites and instances of hatred and report it to the police. He asked them to counter the spread of misinformation on social media platforms by setting up IT wings to be led by youngsters, according to a press statement.
He was speaking at an interactive meeting held at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC).
Krishna Sharma, CPC general secretary, spoke of the services of committee for four decades and others spoke about the significance of unity.
Anand asked the members to be on ground during all festivals and processions, and report issues to the police immediately.
He also reminisced about his longstanding association with the peace committees.
Police officers at the meeting sought the cooperation of the peace committee members in spreading awareness on drug abuse, women safety, traffic and cyber crime issues. Senior officials and zonal heads shared key insights during the interactive meeting, the statement said.
