THIRUVANANTHAPURAM; The nurse who attempted suicide by cutting her veins last week, alleged that there was a conspiracy to finish her off while under treatment at the hospital from where she was terminated. The nurse who is recuperating at her residence in New Delhi alleged that she was administered drug in excess dose in a deliberate though apparently casual bid to hasten her end. "They decided to finish me off thinking that no one will come for me and ask questions. Even people would think that she died after taking the extreme step," she added.

The nurse said the Women's Commission had approached her and told suo motu case would be registered. "I am not going to stop here. I am planning to file a case of attempt to murder. I want to know who gave the order to give me excess dose of sedation. Who directed the nurses to give me the injection?  I want clarity on these issues," she told a regional channel. The nurse who belongs to Alappuzha, was given termination orders without any prior notice and that too through an email last Friday. Though the nurse was on sick leave on that day, she went to the hospital to lodge a complaint.

The nurse lodged a protest during which the security allegedly assaulted her in the presence of doctors. It was then she cut her veins in an attempt to end life. She was admitted to the same hospital. It is alleged that she was given the sedation twice. The nurse alleged that this was done as part of a conspiracy to finish her off. Sensing foul play, her husband and colleagues of the nurse shifted her to All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). According to  nurses in Delhi, the AIIMS authorities had also confirmed that excess dose was given to her.

But sources said the medical records at the ILBS had also reported excess dose.
Initially, the Delhi police was reluctant to register the case. However, it was forced to file the case following the pressure from women commission. Meanwhile,  the striking nurses met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and submitted a memorandum. They demanded justice for the Delhi-based nurse.
