PG student found dead at Central University of Kerala hostel

Since it was a holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanthi on Monday, most of the students had gone home.

KOZHIKODE: A first semester MEd student of Central University of Kerala reportedly slipped and fell to his death in the bathroom of the college hostel in Periya, in the early hours of Monday. Viswambharan (30), son of late Kalladan, was found injured on his head by his hostel mates, who then took him to Kasargod district hospital with the help of employees. The student was declared brought dead, officials said. Since it was a holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanthi on Monday, most of the students had gone home.  

However, the hostel remained open for students from other states, said hostel warden and English teacher Ifthiker Ahamed.  Mr Viswambharan  stayed back for studies. Hailing from Thayannur, near Kanhangad, the MEd student had qualified at many competitive examinations and was about to get a job in the teaching profession and wished to complete the course here. Bekal police has started a probe.
