Once completed, there will be a number of trains between Guntur and Guntakal, particularly from Howrah, Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam.

The enhanced connectivity will help in improving the socio-economic status of the region, especially for people from Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool and Anantapur districts.

It can improve freight transportation by harnessing the potential that exists in the mineral-rich Palnadu region. It can also reduce congestion on the Grand Trunk route.
