Policemen booked for beating up activists protesting SIMI encounter

Lucknow: An FIR has been lodged against two policemen for allegedly beating-up members of Rihai Manch, who were staging a protest against the encounter of SIMI activists in Bhopal, on Tuesday at the Hazratganj crossing.

Rihai Manch members in their FIR accused Sub-inspectors Omkarnath Yadav and Vijay Kumar Pandey of beating up their activists while they were staging the protest in front of the Gandhi statue, police sources said.

Manch members claimed Rajiv Yadav was severely injured in the police action and had to be admitted to the Trauma Centre, police said.

An inquiry has been initiated against the accused policemen, who are posted at the Hazratganj police station, they said.
