Thiruvananthapuram: The  APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has introduced norms to re-admit students to the  colleges affiliated to the university.   The  norms are applicable to students who discontinued their courses in BTech, BArch, MPlanning, MArch, MTech and MCA  in colleges affiliated to other universities before the tech university was established in  2014. All the engineering colleges in the state now come under the technological university.

The norms stipulate  that the students should be eligible for re-admission as per the regulations of the parent university. They should  pass all subjects in the lower semesters. The admission  will be based on the recommendation of the principal of the college where the applicant studied and the admission will be only to that college in the same branch of study. A committee constituted by the university will examine such cases and decide on any addition or substitution of courses the student has to undergo based on the courses completed and in line with the current university curriculum.

The credits  earned by the student in the parent university will be transferred to the university as per the clauses in the ordinance and regulations for the respective programme and as per the pattern of credits assigned by the university.  Students who have completed all courses up to the last but one semester will continue in the parent university and no re-admission is planned for them. The respective colleges will arrange classes for them and the parent university will award the degree as per their regulations, sources said.
