30th National Conference on Liquid Crystals(NCLC-2023) Kicks Off at Andhra University
Visakhapatnam: The three-day 30th National Conference on Liquid Crystals (NCLC-2023), organised by the department of Physics at Andhra University in association with the Indian Liquid Crystals Society (ILCS), commenced with great enthusiasm on Thursda.
This prestigious event has attracted liquid crystal researchers and enthusiasts from across the nation and is generously funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
The inaugural function of NCLC-2023 was graced by the presence of eminent personalities in the field. K. Samatha, the Rector of Andhra University, presided as the chief guest. The guests of honour included K.A. Suresh, Emeritus Professor at the Raman Research Institute (RRI), and Ravindra Dhar, President of the Indian Liquid Crystals Society (ILCS). S. Srinivasa Rao, the head of the department of Physics at Andhra University, chaired the inauguration programme.
The organising secretary, K. Basavaih, dean of research and development, and the convener, M. Ramakrishna Nanchara Rao, were also present.
The conference drew a diverse group of delegates from prestigious institutions across the country. The highlight of the day included the Lifetime Achievement Lecture and Keynote Address, delivered by the Kattera A. Suresh from RRI, Bengaluru, under the chairmanship of Ravindra Dhar.
The third technical session, conducted in parallel with the second session, featured invited lectures by Prof. Malay Kumar Das and Prof. Pankaj Mishra. The session was highlighted by the silver medal award lecture presented by Ravi K. Shukla.
The conference’s first day concluded with a dynamic poster session, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in interactive discussions and exchange ideas.
