Take measures to protect mangroves in AP

Vijayawada: Chief Secretary Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy instructed the officials to take appropriate measures to protect mangroves across the state from encroachment and to plant mangroves in more areas.

The 20th steering committee meeting on Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) meeting was held at the Secretariat on Thursday under the chairmanship of the chief secretary.

On the occasion, Jawahar Reddy said that apart from protecting the existing mangroves in the state from encroachment, the forest department officials also have to take appropriate measures for the cultivation of mangroves in more areas in the coastal districts wherever it is possible.
