Periyar: Toddler was drowned, confirms forensic report
There were charges of foul play against the day-care authorities, however, the police had all along denied this.
Kochi: A forensic report has confirmed that the toddler, who had gone missing from a nursery and later found dead in the near-by Periyar river ghat adjacent to it, had died duo to drowning, police said on Friday. “A diatom test performed confirmed the presence of the same microorganisms in the samples taken from the body as to the samples collected from water. A previous autopsy report had confirmed that the boy had died of drowning,” a senior police officer said.
There were charges of foul play against the day-care authorities, however, the police had all along denied this. “Apart from negligence from the side of the day care centre, we’re not able to find anything against them,” he said. Two-and-a half year old Aadav, son of Rajesh-Reshmi couple from Kayattinkara in Muppathadam, was found dead at the jetty, just 150 metres away from the Stella Mary's School on November two. A case was then registered against the authorities of the centre under Section 304 A for causing death by negligence.
