College students file case against staff for morphing pictures

HYDERABAD: Fifteen women, B. Tech students, of Vigyan Bharti College in Ghatkesar on Wednesday filed a complaint against staff members of the college management for allegedly blackmailing them by morphing their WhatsApp display pictures into obscene pictures.

The police said that the staff member, who is yet to be identified, was morphing the pictures and posting them in their WhatsApp groups.

“Following the development, the students, hostelites and warden Hemanth Reddy lodged a complaint at the Ghatkesar police station at 8 pm,” V. Ashok Reddy, police inspector, said.

“We have collected the mobile phones of the victim and sent them to the cybercrime experts. A case under section 66 (A) of IT Act, 2000, has been registered and we are making efforts to arrest the accused,” Ashok Reddy said.
