Thrissur: The car of a magistrate from Perinthalmanna was blocked by public after it hit a pedestrian at Chembotti lane in Thrissur on Friday afternoon. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries in the incident. As the people who gathered around the car after the accident raised doubts whether the magistrate Santhosh Venu was in an inebriated state, East Police took him to General Hospital, Thrissur, for a medical test.
East CI KC Sethu told DC that the medical test revealed that Mr Venu had not consumed alcohol. The pedestrian suffered only minor injuries , he added. The traffic police later registered a case against the magistrate for reckless driving. Public gathered around the car said that the magistrate was in an inebriated state of mind and had threatened them not to teach him the law. Besides that, they said that the car had entered the lane which was one-way thereby violating traffic rules.
