Thiruvananthapuram: Five held in two murder cases
Suspects arrested from Chirayinkeezhu.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Rural police on Monday recorded the arrest of five suspects in connection with two different murder cases at Chirayinkeezhu last week. In the first incident, three were arrested for allegedly murdering physically disabled history-sheeter Binu, 32 on March 29. The suspects were identified as Biju 40, of Lalitha Bhavan, Pulimoottil Kadavu, Chirayankeezhu and his nephew Sanil, 21, of Valiyavaloor and Kiran, 25, of Kaayalvaram.
As per the police, Biju, a known person casually warned Binu not to cause any law and order problems in the neighbourhood during Sharkkara festival. Binu, who has 20 police cases pending against him, bashed up Biju who went and complained to his nephew Kiran. Kiran is also a history sheeter with four cases registered against him. He ventured out with his friend Sanil to meet Binu. They challenged and brought Binu to Pandakashala area in an autorickshaw and allegedly beat him to death. Biju later surrendered to police and other suspects were arrested from hideouts.
In the second incident, two were arrested for the alleged murder of Nasarudeen, 34, who came to engage in peace talks with them. The suspects were identified as Ajith, 24, son of Prabhakaran of Charuvila, Kuriyodu and Anish alias Appu, 23, son of Raju of Mele thunduvila house, Kattupuram. As per the police, the suspects had allegedly beaten up Nasarudeen’s close friend Kunjan. The victim had gone to initiate peace talks with the suspects and sort out issues. They didn’t like this and pushed Nasarudeen under a huge culvert. A fist-fight ensued and they allegedly smashed his head with a stone before absconding. Anish has several cases including rape charges pending against him. All the suspects were arrested by a team led by Attingal ASP A Adithya and Circle Inspector Anil Kumar.
