Annual Numaish extended by 6 days, to remain open till April 14
Hyderabad police have ordered the exhibition to remain shut on April 9 and April 10 (Saturday and Sunday) on account of Sriramanavami
Hyderabad: Numaish, the all-India Industrial Exhibition, has been extended by six days till April 14 following a request from the 1,400 stall-holders who said they had to recoup their losses. The timings for the exhibition remain to be from 4 pm to 11 pm.
However, Hyderabad police have ordered the exhibition to remain shut on April 9 and April 10 (Saturday and Sunday) on account of Sriramanavami.
"An urgent meeting was held by the managing committee on Sunday at 5 pm as the stall holders claimed to suffer huge losses. There it was decided to extend the exhibition,” said Aditya Margam, honorary secretary, Exhibition Society.
He said shutting the numaish on the weekends when there is heavy rush would affect the traders. Besides, he said, about 2,000 staff who reside in the premises need to be paid. “It makes no sense for us to extend the dates. But we will do it on grounds of humanity for our stall-holders," Margam said.
About 8.5 lakh people have visited the exhibition, unlike in previous years when the numbers were about 18 lakh to 20 lakh. The stall-holders said this had resulted in huge losses.
