Duo completes world tour as part of feats
KOZHIKODE: Thalaserry boasts of having a rich tradition of artists like C.V Balan Nair, M.V Devan, K.K Marar, late P.S Karunakaran, Sharath Chandran among others. K.K. Shibin and K.K Sanil Kumar, teachers in Thalasserry are the latest to join that royal lineage after global recognition.
Both have just completed a world tour as a part of their global achievement. Shibin, the computer science teacher at Chirakkara govt VHSS, Thalaserry, whose logo on environment protection was selected by the UN in 2015 toured Italy, Switzerland and France. “It was my first time out of the country and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip,” Shibin said. His entry got recognition amongst 300 entries that came from 70 countries. Shibin’s design of the Rupee was among the final five entries in 2010.
Sanil Kumar was one of the 8 artistes selected by Camlin Art Foundation last year from 10,000 entries. He is the first Malayalee to get this recognition in the 17-year old contest tradition of Camlin Art Foundation. The selected eight artistes were sent on a world tour by Camlin to Paris, Venice, Rome, Vatican City, Florence and other major European cities.
“Visiting the Louvre museum in Paris was a mind-blowing experience. It has more than 35,000 paintings and sculptures. But the major attraction is none other than the world renowned painting of ‘Mona Lisa’,” says Sanil. Sanil Kumar is the drawing teacher at Kasthurba Gandhi govt HS, Pallur in Mahe.
