VISHAKHAPATNAM: The Vizag Tech Park, the 300MW Adani Data Centre, would make Visakhapatnam a top IT destination in the country, said chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy here on Wednesday while laying the foundation for the facility at Hill No 4 at IT SEZ in Visakhapatnam.

The chief minister said this project would transform Vizag in a major way. “The first thing this data center would be doing is bringing a submarine cable from Singapore. This is made possible by the Adani Group. With this submarine cable and the 300 MW data centre park coming up in Visakhapatnam, the connectivity, internet usage, and speed, at which data is downloaded, would drastically improve. That would be a major boost for Visakhapatnam, which was so far perceived to be a Tier 2 city.”

“With this data center coming in and this facility made available, this would transform Vizag into a Tier 1 city,’’ the chief minister said.

He said 300 MW data centre would provide employment opportunities to approximately 39,000 people, with an investment outlay of '21,800 crore.”
Stating that the data centre is totally green, the chief minister said the entire power requirement for this would come from renewable energy sources. “That would be a game changer in the way data centres are conceived,” he said.
“We have allotted 190 acres of land for this proposed establishment. The data centre park would be coming up along with an IT business park, a skill development facility and recreational centers. This would ensure that there is also a business park that could also capitalize on these cloud services and the speed of internet connectivity. All these would be translating into IT activity, through the business parks,’’ Jagan Reddy said

“All these would do a lot of good to the IT sector growth in Visakhapatnam,” he said.
