HYDERABAD: The TS Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is planning to provide exclusive buses for educational institutions daily, when schools reopen later this month. The TSRTC authorities have suggested to educational institutes to stagger timings so that the corporation can provide more special buses for students.

There used to be around five lakh students availing bus pass facility before the pandemic, but the number has fallen to around one lakh in the last two years.

The Greater Hyderabad Zone of TSRTC has issued a letter to all educational institutes intimating that students should apply for free, route, general, greater, special, exclusive and district passes except students studying up to Class 7.

It is also brought to the notice of all private institutions that they should pay administration charges to obtain a code so that the students of that institution are eligible to apply for passes. For the student bus passes, online facility starts from June 10 onwards, and will continue till June 15 at all bus centres.

Sahaja Snigdha, a student of KV-1, said, “The whole last academic year, there were no sufficient buses between 8 am and 9 am from Prathapsingaram to Uppal. My father used to drop me till Boduppal.”

Venketeshwarlu Veerla, executive director, TSRTC Greater Hyderabad Zone, said, “For the past two years, there was prevailing uncertainty among students to commute. This year it will be normal and all services will be available.”
