India geared up for third G20 Health Working Group meeting
HYDERABAD: The G20 Health Working Group (HWG) meeting, third in the series, to be held here from Sunday to June 6 will focus on the three key points — health emergencies prevention, preparedness and response, with a focus on anti-microbial resistance and the ‘One Health’ framework.
Other priorities set out for the meeting are strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and digital health innovation.
Briefing the media, Lav Agarwal, additional secretary, Union ministry of health, said that India would voice the challenges of the Global South at the meeting. The meeting will see 180 members, 10 invited countries and 22 international organisations.
Agarwal said the deliverables of the meeting will contribute to establishing regional networks catering to vaccine therapeutics, diagnostics, research, and manufacturing networks and creation of a global medical counter measures coordination platform.
