Teams to meet Bar Council of India on criminology course

The team will comprise Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Law Dean and a Syndicate member.

KOCHI: Two teams from the MG University and the Ernakulam Government Law College will meet separately the Bar Council of India authorities in New Delhi in a bid to sort out the issue of non-recognition of BCI to the five year BA-LLB Criminology course at the college. According to Law College University Union Councillor Akhil Chandran, the MGU delegation will meet on July 8 and will be led by Vice-Chancellor Dr Babu Sebastian. The team will comprise Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Law Dean and a Syndicate member.

The date of meeting of the Law College team has not been finalized. However, it will have the Law College Principal and teacher and student representatives. The decision in this regard was taken at a staff council meeting held on Friday afternoon. The college student representatives said that the meeting will take place before July 15. SFI Law College unit secretary Arsho said that  the 10-day-old class boycott strike led by SFI demanding the same has been withdrawn.
