Anantapur: Students for B.Tech courses in the Energy University will be selected based on the ranks of the Joint Entrance Exam.
The Energy University, a specialised institution, is the first of its kind that has been sanctioned in the state following bifurcation.
The state government has allotted about 230 acres of land to the university to set up its campus at the Kudair mandal headquarters in Anantapur district, about 20 km from the district headquarters. For the present, it will function from the campus of the JNTU-A engineering college.
Dr S.S. Mantha, a former AICTE chairman, is framing the guidelines for the process of admissions and the syllabus for the university which will concentrate on energy-related courses. The university offers engineering degrees in energy, MBA in energy and diploma courses.
Sources said the admission process into the BTech courses would be based on JEE ranks, which would allow students nationwide to join the university. Officials did not take the option of choosing students through the AP Eamcet.
Classes would be started by September at the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur campus.
Seats in the post-graduation in business administration will be filled through ICET, a state-level entrance test, sources said.
