RTC driver fined for spitting on public road
The driver was pulled up for sticking his head out of the window and spitting on the road.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on July 3 collected Rs 96,100 as fines against littering and spitting in the municipal areas of the city.
Early on Wednesday morning, GHMC workers fined RTC driver Jagdeesh attached to Kushaiguda depot who was driving the bus at Lingampally, for spitting on the road.
The driver was pulled up for sticking his head out of the window and spitting on the road. The sweepers saw this and alerted civic officials of the sanitation department who stopped the bus.
Jagdeesh was surprised by the intervention of the civic officials who first counselled him that it was wrong to spit on the road and imposed a fine of `100. Civic officials who are moving around in plain clothes have asked the sweepers to alert them about people spitting on the streets, openly urinating and also littering.
The drive is mostly being carried out on the main roads of the city. Since the drive began in May 24, 2019, 2,809 persons have been fined and `44,04,950 was collected by the sanitation department of the GHMC.
