ANANTAPUR: The Supreme Court bench on Monday posted the petition from the PA of slain Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, M.V. Krishna Reddy, seeking that he be recognised as a victim in the case, to July 5.

This, after the deceased’s daughter Sunitha opposed the plea and stated that Krishna Reddy was named as a suspect in the case and CBI had mentioned his role in the Viveka death, and hence he should not be treated as a ‘victim’ in the case.

Krishna Reddy had approached the Supreme Court with this plea and stated that he was the first to lodge a complaint with the police over the death Vivekananda Reddy.

He had filed a petition against the CBI permitting Shaik Dastagiri as approver in the case though he was an accused. Krishna Reddy reiterated that he was the first to inform the police about the Viveka death.

The Supreme Court Bench comprising Justice Krishna Murari and Justice Sanjay Kumar had reportedly expressed its displeasure with defence counsel Chowdary, who pleaded in favour of Krihsna Reddy’s request.

Sunitha’s counsel Siddarth Luthra informed the Supreme Court that the CBI, in its charge sheet, had mentioned Krishna Reddy as a suspect in the case while Vivekanda Reddy’s wife and daughter were mentioned as victims, while transferring the case to TS from AP.

The SC bench, though it initially said the case would be sent to TS High Court, later considered the related petition pending with the TS High Court. The Supreme Court bench posted the case to July 5 after Sunitha’s counsel sought time to submit details of a fresh charge sheet filed by CBI in the case.

Meanwhile Dastagiri, approver in the case, submitted a representation to the Supreme Court, saying that he was in a poor financial condition to get legal aid and hence he should be treated as a victim to get legal support in the case.
