ANANTAPUR: Tadipatri circle inspector A. Ananda Rao committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan at his residence in the wee hours on Monday. The circle inspector who held duties till late on Sunday went to his house and ended his life, police said.
Discord in the family is cited to be the reason for the suicide. The family members found him in a hanging position in the bedroom when they woke up in the morning. SP Srinivasa Rao rushed to the house and consoled the family members.
Ananda Rao had joined the police department in 1998 as a sub-inspector and was recently transferred from Kadapa to Tadipatri circle. The inspector did the night beat and gave instructions to the staff over patrolling and went home. His wife Anuradha and two daughters were at home.
There was a heated argument and quarrel between Ananda Rao and his wife Anuradha at night. Sources said there had been frequent quarrels between the two over several issues including financial matters.
The CI used to lock the door of his bedroom after such heated argument. On Sunday night too, this happened. The family members took it as a normal action and slept.
The body was shifted to the Tadipatri government hospital for post mortem. SP Srinivasa Rao, DSP Gangaiah, Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav, MLA Pedda Reddy, TD incharge and municipal chairman Prabhakar Reddy and several others expressed their sympathy to the family.
