Chennai: Pushpa's husband, son seek bail fearing arrest
HC adjourns hearing on petition to August 8.
Chennai: Apprehending arrest in connection with an assault case registered by the Anna Nagar police here, the husband and son of MP Sasikala Pushpa, who was removed from AIADMK recently, after the slapping episode of DMK MP Trichy Siva, has approached Madras high court, seeking anticipatory bail.
Justice S.Vaidyanathan adjourned the hearing to August 8. The anticipatory bail petitions were filed by T. Lingesvara Thilagan and his son L. Pradeep Raja.
According to petitioners, they fear that they may be arrested by the Anna Nagar police for the alleged offences punishable under section 294 (b) (Obscene acts and songs), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (ii) (Criminal intimidation) of IPC.
The case of the prosecution was that there was some wordy quarrel between the petitioners and the de-facto complainant and at that time, the petitioners abused the de-facto complainant in filthy language and tried to attack him, they added.
They alleged that as several persons were having grudge against Sasikala Pushpa, MP, due to some political enmity, want only false complaint has been lodged against the petitioners in order to put Sasikala Pushpa in distress and difficult situation and thereby to put an end to her political field.
