Kochi: An authorised dealer from Palakkad, S.S. Vishnu, on Thursday, filed an anticipatory bail petition fearing arrest in connection with a case registered against a stockist of Mizoram state lotteries. He argued the Palakkad police had seized Mizoram state lottery tickets from a warehouse and booked stockists for violation of the provisions of the Lotteries Regulation Act.

He said he had no connection with the stockist or he had not purchased Mizoram lottery tickets from him. He apprehended that he would be arrested and tortured. The state had banned the sale of other state lotteries. The police seized five crores of Mizoram lottery tickets from Palakkad after finance minister Thomas Isaac said selling Mizoram lottery tickets was illegal.
