Rejig only solution: Elamaram Kareem
Mr Kareem accepted that a section of employees, including those affiliated to CITU, are unhappy with the turn of things.
KOZHIKODE: CITU national secretary Elamaram Kareem told DC that there is no other option for the KSRTC and its employees but to ensure total restructuring so as to reduce the loss to its maximum. There were many unscientific work patterns — like one-day off for a driver who has driven for more than 12 hours — that have been reversed in the restructuring process.
Mr Kareem accepted that a section of employees, including those affiliated to CITU, are unhappy with the turn of things. But it is a struggle for survival. "No permanent employees would be expelled", he said, "but each employee should chip in his share to revive the corporation". “Once it is a profitable entity, decisions can be reversed,” he added.
