The Confederation of Indian Industry donated 50 cycles under the CSR concept to Puducherry police for launching bike patrolling.

Puducherry: Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi flagged off the cycle patrol team of the Puducherry police, as part of ‘Friends of Tourists’ initiative, near Dupliex statue in the beach road on Saturday.

“On seeing a news article on the launch of cycle patrol in Tamil Nadu, I wanted the same in Puducherry,”  said Ms Bedi while flagging of the patrol team. The police, led by DGP and senior officers, brought the scheme into fruition efficiently, she said.

The cycle patrol team has been assigned to be ‘Friends of Tourists’ to guide them to tourist attractions, accommodation, transportation and resolve complaints if any.  About 60 police constables were imparted training by tourism department on the various facets of tourism requirements.

Legislator K. Lakshminarayanan, director general of police Sunil Kumar, senior superintendent of police Rajiv Ranjan, director of tourism Srikanth were present at the occasion.
