8 youth stuck in River Penna rescued
Kurnool: Police, fire and revenue personnel saved the lives of eight youngsters who found themselves trapped in sudden flood in Penna River at Chennuru in YSR district on Sunday.
Even though the water level in the river had been increasing, these young people ventured into the middle of the river. However, when they found themselves stuck in rising waters, they illuminated their mobile phone lights and started yelling for assistance.
Alerted by locals, police, fire and revenue authorities sprang into action. They took a rescue boat and reached the spot. They evacuated all the eight youth safely.
District SP K.K.N. Anburajan commended the teams involved in the rescue operation. They include district assistant fire officer Basivireddy, Maidukuru rural circle inspector Srinath Reddy, Chennuru sub-inspector Srinivasulu Reddy and Khajipet in-charge sub-inspector Ghana Maddileti.
Kadapa RDO Dharmachandra Reddy supervised the rescue operation.
