Mysuru: Several associations from pro-Ahinda communities (a coalition of dalits, minorities and backward classes)  along with progressive thinkers will hold Mahisha Dasara – ‘Moolanivasigala Mahisha Samskrithika Habba’ in front of the Mahishasura statue at Chamundi hills on October 7.

At a press meet, Jnana Prakash Swamiji of Urilinga Pedhdhi Matha said that they will begin their rally from the Ambedkar statue in front of Town Hall and converge at the Mahishasura statue where former minister Satish Jarkiholi will inaugurate the programme. A seminar will also be held.

On the occasion, six people including progressive thinkers Prof K.S. Bhagwan, Prof. Mahesh Chandra Guru, Harihara Ananda Swamy, literateur Siddaswamy, President of the Dalit welfare trust, Shantharaju and journalist, Somaiah Maleyooru will be felicitated.

Progressive thinker Prof. Bhagwan said that Mahishasura is not a demon and should be treated as a follower of Buddha. The Mahishasura statue in the form of a demon must be removed and be replaced with a Mahishasura statue in the form of Buddha Bikkhu as he strived for welfare of all communites, he claimed.
