Puttaparti to host week-long World Space Week

The celebrations will be kicked off with a Space Walk on October 4

ANANTAPUR: The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) in association with the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota, ISRO, will celebrate  World Space Week 2022 for three days from October 5 at the Sri Sathya Sai International Centre for Sports, Prasanthi Nilayam,  in Sri Sathya Sai district.

Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.  The event will be presided over by A Rajarajan, distinguished scientist and director, SDSC SHAR, ISRO and  R Senthil Kumar, deputy director, MSA, SDSC SHAR.

The celebrations will be kicked off with a Space Walk on  October 4, a walkathon by school students through the main thoroughfares of Puttaparthi to create awareness about Space Science and our Space programmes. The Spacewalk will be flagged off by Satyasai district SP Rahul Dev Singh.

“SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota, has been celebrating World Space Week with a gamut of public outreach programmes since 2000. We are extremely happy to be partnering with the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning this year,” observed A Rajarajan, distinguished scientist and director, SDSC SHAR, ISRO.

Students from over 150 educational institutions in and around the Sri Sathya Sai District will be participating in the three-day event which will showcase the outstanding work done by SDSC SHAR through their exhibits. An online quiz programme was rolled out and it has received over 3000 entries.

The exhibition will be open to the general public on October 6th and 7th for two days. “The event is a tremendous opportunity for the students of SSSIHL and all students of Sri Sathya Sai District, to see, learn, and be inspired” said Prof. C B Sanjeevi, Vice-Chancellor, SSSIHL.
