Kerala: Medico kills herself on fear of results

Thiruvananthapuram: A second-year MBBS student at the Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram here was found hanging in her house. Police identified the deceased as Shahina, 20, staying at NGO quarters near Museum. Police suspect that she committed suicide because of the fear of exam results. Though she was good at her studies, she was reportedly afraid that her performance in the first year examination would not fetch a good result, said the police.

Shahina did not go to college on Thursday. Her grandmother was the only one present at the house during the incident. Shahina was the daughter of Sherafuddin, an employee with Suchitwa Mission, and Nisha, an employee at the Legislature Secretariat. Her younger sister Shilpa is an engineering student. The body of Shahina was taken to their native place Aaralamoodu.
