Four killed as lorry rams into autorickshaw in Vikarabad
Hyderabad: A speeding lorry rammed into an autorickshaw at Bacharam near Dharur in Vikarabad district on Thursday, killing the driver and three passengers in the three-wheeler.
Police said 10 persons from Madananthapur thanda had set out in the autorickshaw of Md Jameel, 35, for work in Vikarabad. While the driver and three others — Nenavath Hemla Naik, 45, Varthya Ravi and Nenavath Kishan, both 40 — died in the accident, the others survived with injuries
Police said that after the crash, the lorry driver sped away with the vehicle. Passersby informed the police of the accident and also provided details of the lorry. Police stopped the vehicle at Tandoor and detained the driver. Police alleged the driver was drunk, and he was driving in a rash manner.
B.V. Satyanarayana, DSP, Vikarabad, said the road safety committee would analyse the road at the accident spot and suggest any preventive measures that needed to be taken,
Families and relatives of the victims staged a protest demanding compensation to the kin of the victims.
