Mother and her twin babies die in Tumakuru
A mother and her twin babies died in the wee hours of Thursday allegedly owing to medical negligence in Tumakuru. The woman who did not get medical attention on time died owing to profuse bleeding.
It is said that the woman identified as Kasthuri complained of labor pain on Wednesday evening and her neighbours rushed her to District Hospital in Tumakuru. The doctors at the Hospital reportedly refused to admit the patient saying that she did not have Aadhar card or the Mother’s card.
Locals made numerous appeals to the doctors but the doctors did not budge from their demand and kept on insisting on the documents to admit the pregnant woman. The pregnant woman was referred to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru by the doctors. The woman returned home since could not afford to reach Bengaluru owing to financial constraints.
As per the reports, the woman screamed the whole night before she delivered twin baby boys and since did not get proper medical attention on time, she died owing to profuse bleeding. The new born babies too succumbed.
A local resident Shankar alleged that “Had the doctors admitted her and treated, their lives could have been saved.”
The deceased Kasthuri was leaving with her six-year-old daughter at a house in Bharatinagar close to Abhaya Anjaneya Temple in Tumakuru for about a month now. She was a native of Tamil Nadu.
