Tender documents for dredging of Godavari bed at Rs 272.36 cr submitted

Vijayawada: The water resources authorities have submitted tender documents to the Judicial Preview Commission for approval for dredging of the Godavari river bed from the foreshore of Sir Arthur Cotton barrage towards both the left and right banks at a cost of Rs 272.36 crore.

To increase the storage capacity of water in the river at the barrage by one tmcft, from the current two tmcft to three tmcft capacity, the authorities will undertake desilting from the foreshore of Sir Arthur Cotton barrage from 3.000 km to 12.150 km in Godavari river towards left bank in East Godavari district at a cost of Rs 144.23 crore, as well as from the foreshore of barrage from 3.000 km to 12.150km in Godavari river towards right bank in West Godavari district at a cost of about Rs 128.13 crore

To ensure transparency in the tendering process by examining the suggestions and objections from the public, the tender documents are furnished to the Judicial Preview Commission. Dowleswaram irrigation circle superintending engineer B. Rambabu said that all documents pertaining to the tenders were uploaded in the website on January 3 and asked for suggestions  and objections if any to be sent through email to the Judicial Preview Commission by 5.00 pm on January 11.
