HYDERABAD: Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof. Kodandaram alleged that the BRS government had left the revenue set-up in shambles, particularly by for removing the system of village revenue assistants (VRAs) and village revenue officers (VROs), and lauded the Congress government for taking steps to amend the situation.

He said that the BRS government took up digitalisation of land records without correcting them. “To set this right, a strong local revenue set-up is pivotal. Instead of securing and strengthening it the government dismantled it,” he said.

In a press meet held to thank the state government for releasing the pending salaries of VROs and VRAs for five months, Kodandaram said, “Some more problems have to be addressed. The erstwhile government had cheated the VRAs and VROs in the name of service regularisation.”

Finding fault with the BRS government for leaving the employees in the lurch, he said, “The employees who were sent to various departments lost their service without even factoring their local status. They have been left as new employees, and some of them are not even getting salaries.”

The revenue employees thanked the CM and revenue minister for addressing their problems.

Revenue employees JAC chairman V. Lacchi Reddy said, “15,600 VRAs were transferred without considering their native status. The Congress government which has taken steps to solve the problems created by Dharani Portal has also started to address the employees' issues. A strong revenue set up is needed at the village level as the tahsildar’s cannot solve the problems at the local level.”
