Kochi: Anil Akkara, MLA, on Tuesday moved Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the state government to ensure that no liquor outlets are shifted to or opened in residential areas without obtaining prior permission and licence from the local self-government concerned. The state government has been taking frantic measures to shift its liquor outlets to the panchayat roads and bye lanes in the wake of the Supreme Court order directing the government to shift liquor outlets on national and state high ways, he argued. He contended that while shifting the outlets, the government is ignoring protests by local residents and is shifting it without obtaining prior permission from local self government institutions.
