UDF takes Vice-chancellor-Syndicate open war to Governor P Sathasivam
The open fight between LDF syndicate members and the vice-chancellor P.K. Radhakrishnan has resulted in the postponement of the academic council.
Thiruvananthapuram: Pro-UDF syndicate members in the Kerala University apprised Governor P. Sathasivam, who is also the chancellor of the university, about their displeasure regarding the open fight between LDF syndicate members and the vice-chancellor P.K. Radhakrishnan which has resulted in the postponement of the academic council. Former KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has asked the Governor to ensure action against those involved in humiliating Kerala University student’s services director T. Vijayalakshmi, both physically and mentally.
Mr Sudheeran in a statement here said that a former MLA and a syndicate member was harassing her after creating a false impression that she denied funds to the Kerala University youth festival. BJP leaders Kummanam Rajasekharan and V. Muraleedaran in separate statements called for the arrest of syndicate member A.A. Rahim based on the complaints of Ms Vijayalakshmi alleging that she was harassed.
The complaint submitted by four UDF syndicate members M. Jeevanlal, S. Krishnakumar, John Thomas and Jyothikumar Chamakala, said that the academic and administrative community in the university and students were astounded by the unilateral decision of the vice-chancellor on the eve of the academic council to cancel the meeting. There were crucial issues forming part of various faculties such as scheme and syllabi of courses either new or revised that have to be approved by the academic council, before such courses are announced or taught. However, many such proposed revisions and new programme are to be abandoned or to be kept in abeyance. This would in turn affect the notification for new admissions due in a month’s time.
