400 Cusat students secure jobs in placement drive
The maximum pay package bagged is Rs 12 lakh per annum
Kochi: In yet another year of grand placements, a total number of 400 BTech students of School of Engineering (SoE) of Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) have been well-placed through campus recruitment drive even before the final year B.Tech results are out. Another 50 students belonging to MCA and MTech of the varsity and Cochin University College of Engineering, Pulinkunnu, too got placement.
The maximum pay package bagged is Rs 12 lakh per annum and the average annual pay package is Rs 4.82 lakh, said Dr.G.Madhu, Principal, School of Engineering and Mr C.V Premkumar, placement co-ordinator, Cusat. Seven students of the Safety and Fire Engineering branch of SoE got the highest pay packet of Rs 12 lakh from Indian Oil Corporation.
According to them 90 percent of the total eligible Cusat BTech students and MCA students got placement. Out of the 400 placements, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a noted IT firm, offered 220 placements. According to Mr Premkumar, around 44 organizations visited the campus for placement drive which included Indian Oil Corporation (Maharatna company), Bharat Petroleum & Oil India (Navaratna ),
Reliance Industries, Unisys, Verizon, Amazon, Maxeed Telecom, JWL, IOTL, Musigma, Amadens Labs, Shoretel communications, Corel Technologies, Broad com, L&T, JK Tyre and CEAT. The last year’s highest pay packet was Rs 14 lakh which was given to one student by e-commerce firm Snapdeal. There is a two-three percent increase in overall placement this year compared to last year.
