Congress sympathiser's house attacked at Vadakara

Kozhikode: The house of a Congress party sympathiser was attacked at Vadakara in the wee hours of Sunday. Petrol bombs were hurled at the house of Vavath Poyil Asokan, an autodriver, from Neethupuram Chemmarathur near Vadakara. The party alleged that the CPM workers were behind the attack, and it was the follow-up of a case last month, where Asokan was trapped and later escaped scot-free. Mullappally Ramachandran, MP, visited the house that was partially damaged. “Congress party will face such attacks with will power,” he said.
Petrol bombs that failed to blast were also seen in front of the house. Two cars, four bikes and an autorickshaw parked in the portico were not damaged. According to the local workers, the tiff between CPM and Asokan started during the Assembly elections but Mr Asokan did not comment on the attackers. Police registered a case under Explosive Substances Act. However Vadakara CI T. Madhusoodanan Nair, who visited the spot said that they could not link political rivalry behind the attack and the case was under investigation.
