Dispose plastic bottles at Kochi Metro office, stations

KOCHI: In connection with the World Environment Day on Tuesday, Kochi Metro Rail Limited will make its office and the Metro stations as collection points of plastic bottles. Public can dispose plastic bottles of any size and shape at Metro stations and the KMRL office at Revenue Tower, Park Avenue on Tuesday. The KMRL will hand over the plastic trash for recycling.

‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ is this year's theme for World Environment Day, which urges governments, industry, communities, and individuals to come together and explore sustainable alternatives and urgently reduce the production and excessive use of single-use plastic polluting oceans, damaging marine life and threatening human health.

In connection with the World Environment Day, Indian Oil Corporation will distribute saplings and seeds for free through selected fuel outlets. Seedlings of jackfruit tree, neem, gooseberry and Indian black berry (njaval) will be distributed to the customers, said Meleth Radhakrishnan, state general secretary of All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders
