CM vows to make government services accountable to public
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said that his government was committed to create a work culture that people desired. The chief minister was speaking to leaders of service organisations in the secretariat. “Attendance in government offices is of utmost importance. The service organisations should not obstruct when the government initiates steps to improve attendance,” he said.
He reiterated Government's commitment to implement Right to Service Act in a time bound manner. The chief minister assured to formulate realistic and transparent transfer guidelines. "Our intervention will be with the objective of making services accountable and useful for the people. At the same time top priority will be given to the problems of employees and resolved accordingly. The most important thing is to make services corruption free and efficient. If service organisations are able to ensure this, their credibility will rise,” he said.
Pinarayi said the employees were the wheels of the government. “There will be no vindictive attitude towards employees because of their organisational activities. We should come together to take the state forward. People have several apprehensions regarding government services like problems in system of governance, inefficiency, corruption, mismanagement, over centralisation, lack of professionalism and red tape. Right to Information has made government services more transparent. The bureaucracy will get isolated among people if it does not make timely changes,” he said.
The chief minister said redeployment of staff will be carried out on the basis of scientific evaluation. Those laws which need to be scrapped will be scrapped. Effort will be taken to reduce the delay in file movement. Inspection, internal audit and social audit processes will be made effective. Chief Secretary S.M. Vijayanand, GAD secretary Usha Titus, Administrative Reforms Department Principal Secretary Satyajit Rajan, representatives of FSETO, SETO, FETO, among others took part in the meeting.
