Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee rubbishes jumbo committees
The 14 DCCs which were revamped recently were lifeless during the run-up to the Assembly elections, was one of the findings.
Thiruvananthapuram: The four regional fact-finding committees have recommended that the jumbo committees of DCCs be terminated because they resulted in the poll debacle. With everyone being roped into the jumbo committee, there was a dearth of party leaders to work. Revamping has to be initiated right from the booth committees.
These are a few of the findings in the reports by the four regional KPCC subcommittees which were submitted before the KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran. The 14 DCCs which were revamped recently were lifeless during the run-up to the Assembly elections, was one of the findings. Also, the rampant group activities and in some places, the presence of sub-groups too played spoilsport in the elections.
All the four regional subcommittees have demanded that only those local level leaders who have proved their mettle should be incorporated into the party in future. Sudheeran along with former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and other senior leaders numbering 50 are expected to hold a brainstorming session with the AICC leadership on Thursday in New Delhi.
“KPCC will take stern action against the guilty who played spoilsport, after examining the report in detail as well as after holding talks with concerned leaders. General issues will be taken up before the AICC leadership on Thursday”, said Sudheeran.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is expected to take corrective steps to bring back the KPCC’s old charm as per the report. Meanwhile, the inquiry committee assigned to study the poll debacle in Thrissur, led by KPCC vice president Bharatipuram Sasi, has demanded the “purification” of the DCC there. It was the group fights that paved the downfall of the Congress in Thrissur with Congress managing to get just a single seat, Wadakkancherry.
