Guntur: Dog lover performs last rites for pet

It had killed two snakes which tried to enter their house. Otherwise, the dog was friendly.

Guntur: A dog-lover conducted peddakarma, funeral rites, for his dog at Mangalagiri of Guntur district on Wednesday and fed 200 poor people in its memory.

According to reports, Tathi Krishna, who stays near the APSP camp at Atmakuru adjacent to Mangalagiri town, had brought the dog, which he named Chinnu Bai Naidu, to guard his house against thieves a few years ago.

Mr Krishna said the dog used to stay alert at all times. It had killed two snakes which tried to enter their house. Otherwise, the dog was friendly.

He said the dog died on June 26, and he performed the peddakarma in its memory. Mr Krishna’s family and neighbours participated in the programme.
