HYDERABAD; The Telangana State Assembly is expected to turn into a scene of fireworks on Sunday, as K. Chandrashekar Rao will deliver the last speech in the House in the current tenure as the Chief Minister, which party sources said “will be like T20 batting”.

On the last day of the Monsoon Session, the Chief Minister has reportedly decided to take Opposition parties to task on various issues and the Governor, for withholding her assent to introduce the TSRTC Merger Bill.

Previously, as well, the Governor had held back several Bills that were approved by the Legislature last year.

Chandrashekar Rao is expected to speak for three hours, taking on Opposition parties, answering his critics and announcing more sops before giving a clarion call to the people of the state to ensure his ‘hat-trick’ in the upcoming polls, party sources said.

“The CM wants to caution people against Opposition parties making ‘unrealistic promises’ to secure victory in Assembly polls and alert them how his efforts to put Telangana on top of the country in several spheres in the past nine years will go down the drain if Congress or

BJP comes to power by chance,” a BRS source said.

Rao had attended the opening of the Assembly session on Thursday, only for an hour to pay homage to the recently deceased BRS MLA G. Sayanna, but did not attend after that, which, according to BRS sources was used by Rao to chalk out the strategy for the last day.

Sources added that the Chief Minister will also hold a group photo session with MLAs after the House adjourns indefinitely on Sunday, since this will be the last session for the Legislative Assembly in this tenure of 2018-2023, before the state goes to polls later this year.

BRS sources expect the Election Commission of India to issue the poll notification in September or October and hold the elections in November.
