HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court will on August 9 adjudicate a batch of petitions, which challenged the government’s decision not to provide 15 per cent reservation to students from Andhra Pradesh in the MBBS admissions in colleges that were established after 2014.

A division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar was dealing with the petition of a student from Andhra Pradesh, who challenged the GO 72, which ruled out reservations to AP students under competent authority quota. Several students have filed individual petitions previously.

Earlier, the court had issued interim orders to allow the petitioners to apply for counselling, stating that admission was subject to the final outcome of the petitions.

On Friday, when a petitioner requested the court to direct the government and Kaloji Narayana Rao University for Health Sciences (KNRUHS) to allow her to indicate her options as the web option and counselling had begun.

The High Court allowed her request but said the directions do not confer the right to admission. As the issue has been considered thoroughly, the court said that it will adjudicate the matter on August 9.
